The Lucy Faithfull Foundation is a UK-wide charity working to prevent child sexual abuse – before it happens.

Our Stop It Now services (stopitnow.org.uk | 0808 1000 900) provide confidential and anonymous help for anyone worried about their own or someone else’s sexual thoughts or behaviour towards children.

Our Shore website supports young people with concerns about sexual behaviour.

We’re here for everyone who needs us including:

  • Adults worried about their own sexual thoughts or behaviour, online or offline
  • Adults worried about another adult or young person
  • Young people in trouble for harmful sexual behaviour
  • Front-line workers and professionals
  • Adult survivors and other family members

We use data and insights, alongside decades of experience, to develop innovative strategies and interventions to make prevention a reality. We engage with policy and decision-makers to advocate for a public health approach to child sexual abuse. We bring our understanding and knowledge of what keeps children safe to the widest possible audience.

As part of our Stop It Now services, we run the Stop It Now helpline (0808 1000 900) – the largest confidential helpline of its kind in the world – for anyone with concerns about child sexual abuse, including people concerned about their own thoughts or behaviour. Our expert advisers support the public and professionals in a range of situations, many of whom are facing crisis.

Project Intercept is our global online prevention programme. Through innovative partnerships with technology companies such as Google, TikTok, and Mega, we implement warning messages to deter people searching, viewing, or sharing sexual images of children, or having sexual conversations with children online. These warnings disrupt online child sexual abuse at the moment it’s happening and prevent countless children from being harmed.

Our deterrence campaign aims to prevent people from viewing and sharing sexual images of children online and having sexual conversations with under-16s online. It raises awareness of the growing problem of online child sexual abuse and directs people concerned about their own or someone else’s online behaviour to our confidential and anonymous help to stop.

We use our wealth of knowledge – including our understanding of abuser behaviour, prevention theory and practice – to deliver targeted, evidence-based interventions that help keep children safe.

Our prevention work includes public education, and early intervention with families considered at risk. Our specialist staff carry out risk assessment, advise on case management and provide intervention programmes to ensure family safety.

Our expert training gives professionals the knowledge and insight they need to understand the causes and signs of child sexual abuse, and how to prevent and respond to it. Our courses range from a general understanding to advanced training in child protection and safeguarding, risk management, and sexual offending.

Our online self-help supports adults worried about their own, or another adult's, sexual thoughts and behaviour towards children - whether offending has happened. Our direct programmes help prevent reoffending by working with adults who have been arrested and their loved ones.

By working with young people in trouble for inappropriate or harmful sexual behaviour online, we help stop the behaviour and prevent it from happening again or escalating.

We evaluate our work to make sure what we do protects children, and we share the evidence with professionals and the public. Our Faithfull Papers are a series of reports showcasing our understanding of what works to protect children to the widest possible audience.

In 2023 we launched Shore, a website that provides a safe space for teenagers worried about their own or a friend’s sexual behaviour. Young people can get help directly from our experienced practitioners through our live chat and secure email.
