The ECHO Survivor Hub is a specialist project designed to support survivors of Child Sexual Abuse Material (CSAM).
We recognise that there are significant gaps in support for survivors of CSAM. Survivors have no control over the continued circulation and redistribution of images of their abuse, which can leave them feeling powerless and cause ongoing fear, shame and anxiety. For many, it can feel as though the abuse has never ended.
When individuals are prosecuted for possession of CSAM, survivors are rarely informed. This means they are often excluded from the criminal justice process, unable to access their rights under the Victims’ Code, and unaware of prosecution outcomes. As a result, survivors may miss opportunities to pursue criminal compensation or civil remedies and may struggle to access the specialist support needed to address the lasting impact of their abuse.
The ECHO Survivor Hub consortium has been established to address these gaps by ensuring survivors are informed, supported and heard, while working to remove abuse images, support prosecutions, enable access to justice and potential compensation, and provide dedicated digital peer support resources informed by survivors.
